Your Bio

Sharon Yockel
My passion for photography began in my garden and blossomed along with my flowers. I wanted to capture the beauty Mother Nature created and enjoy it for years to come. This love of nature photography continues to be an important part of my work.
My first trip to Italy changed my life and my photography. I was so taken with the architecture, the culture and the people that my work expanded to capture all those aspects of Italy and "A Closer Look" was born.
One thing led to another and before I knew it I was photographing the colorful dishes for "Mario's Via Abruzzi Cookbook" and taking wedding photos for friends.
Photography has encouraged me to take risks and grow both behind and in front of the lens and to capture the experience in my own unique way.

The best things in life are the memories we make. They are ours to cherish forever, so we can re-live our happiest moments and remember the times that are long since past. Through the lens of my camera, I try to capture the images, moods and feelings of the places I visit. Be they landscapes that catch my eye, people that touch my heart, or places that intrigue my mind, I try to capture them on film to remember and share. Hopefully you can re-live some of your memories, share mine or imagine your dream vacation through the work you see before you. From the crooked streets of medieval Italy to Death Valley, or the coast of Maine to the San Francisco Bay there is a subtle beauty in the world that we often miss in our daily rush. Take a moment now to slow down, share some memories and see through my eyes. Perhaps next time you are going about your day, you will see this subtle beauty when you stop to take A Closer Look.
